Bold Tricks - Karina Halle - review

Bold Tricks is the exhilarating conclusion of The Artist Trilogy by Karina Halle .

This crazy wild ride continues as Ellie, Camden and Javier are on the run and forced to work together and rely on each other.

We sped south in a car full of love and death.

The Artists Trilogy is adrenaline-fueled entertainment and in this final installment the action is off the charts and some of it takes place in the frenetic Mexico City...

and in the dangerous Honduran jungles.

Full of twists and turns, surprises and revelations it’s an intense, highly emotional and bold ending, with some scorching hot scenes and heartwarming moments and the usual sarcastic and so "fucking inappropriate" humor and brilliant writing.

This is one of my favorite series, I love this story and it was great to see how these characters changed throughout this journey. We followed Camden's transition in 'Shooting Scars' and in this last installment we can see how power transformed Javier

[spoiler] Javier, who we always saw through Ellie’s eyes and that was once in love with her, but along the way fell in love with power. It’s this greed for power that leads him to manipulate Ellie and can explain his behavior in this last installment and Ellie finally understands that. But nothing is ever black and white and in the end, Javier's behavior proves exactly that. Javier is an interesting and complex character and I’m really looking forward to see more of him[/spoiler] but in "Bold Tricks" we also observe Ellie's evolution.

My real nature, my real self, wanted that person to believe in me, to see the good, ignore the bad, and make me feel like I had a future.

We can easily identify change as a constant in The Artists Trilogy, it was part of Ellie’s life as a con-artist and it’s a different type of change that becomes her goal. In my opinion, what makes The Artists Trilogy original is that this story goes beyond the love triangle something that is not so common in the contemporary romance sub-genre, this is Ellie’s journey and her evolution.

A story about friendship, love, redemption, transformation, perseverance, second chances and about fighting for those second chances.

It’s about Ellie, her turning point and how she makes things right again.
